I have been a children’s librarian since 2003 and am now working in a large urban system. I decided to try blogging a few years ago to keep track of my program decisions, and also to encourage myself to think deeply about those choices (hence the “intentional” in the title). And, hey, if someone else can make use of my program plans, all the better!
Because planning a program doesn't just take 5 minutes

Thank you for sharing! What part of Chicago are you? I am in Northwest Indiana
I’m in the Near North suburbs.
Yes oh my gosh! I have been doing a storytime for a year with the express purpose of never having the kids do a craft that is take and toss. Only things that they can take home and play with. I have seen too many kid themes where the kids make something but it sits on a shelf or gets tossed. It is busy work. Not for my storytime kids. Ready, set, play is my mantra. So glad to see other people doing this.
